| There are 3 basic types of adult air guns
Spring air guns These are the most common adult air guns made today. They are cocked and powered by one stroke of the barrel, side, under, or over lever. This category features a very wide price, power and accuracy range. Except for a few specialized target models, they all have some recoil, the more powerful the airgun, the more recoil. Cocking effort also rises with power.
CO2 guns These are powered by 12 gram co2 cartridges, popularized by Crosman Arms. Some can also be used with or filled from paintball co2 tanks. Many of the mass produced American BB guns are co2 powered. But target co2 guns have also won many World Class Airgun Matches. They have no recoil, and you do not have to cock a lever between shots. These co2 air rifles are among the most accurate available. The price/performance value of these air guns is outstanding in both calibers. Co2 guns are easier to shoot accurately than springers, due to their lack of recoil.
Pneumatic guns There are several sub categories of pneumatic air guns. They are all recoilless. You may be familiar with multi pump pneumatic, exemplified by the American made Benjamin/Sheridan pellet guns. Daisy has sold single pump pneumatics for many years now. The downside of the multi pumps is accuracy, time, and the labor required to pump it. The single stroke pneumatics are very accurate at close range, but are velocity limited, maxing out at about 350 fps.
Pre charged pneumatics are available at the higher end of cost and power scales (NEW IN STOCK - XS-B50 ). They are charged from 3,000 psi scuba tanks. Many are repeaters, all are very powerful. They are also very accurate. |
